Before You Complain, Think of This

August 4, 2016

Today, think of this.

Before you think of saying an unkind word,
Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food,
Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife,
Think of someone who is crying out for a companion.

Before you complain about life,
Think of someone who passed away too early.

Before you complain about your children,
Think of someone who desires children but is barren.

Before you argue about your dirty or messy house,
Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive,
Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

Before you complain about your job,
Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.

Before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another,
Remember that we all have made mistakes.

Life is a gift.
Live it.
Enjoy it.
Celebrate it.
Fulfill it.

Yesterday, when I was in the car, I saw a billboard advertisement of a life insurance company. I think you guys have seen it before. I felt something different when I read the slogan - Life is Great.

It has been a tough 3 weeks for my family and I - when my big brother was hospitalized since middle of July. But I must say, I learned a lot in the mean time - more about life, more about my faith to Allah, more about commitment, more about making a tough decision, more about comforting others, more about receiving advises, more about explaining situation.

Life is great. And afterlife is greater - to be in Jannah.

If we look back at the words in the video - they are encouraging people to be grateful and don't complain. Everything happens for a reason / reasons - which most of the time, we can't see it on the spot.

Everyone is facing his own challenges - nobody has the same situation - the exact same.
And we know that we are challenged within our limits.

Throughout the 18 days (so far) - I met many people who always give encouraging words on how Allah loves you by giving this challenge. I had the chances to spend time in the mosque beside the hospital - listening to tazkirah, reading the Quran, giving sadaqah etc. Maybe these are what Allah want to give me as well. I shared more about the tazkirah etc in any future posts, insyAllah. I will try :)
